Very cool! And I have always liked U4. I use it every now and then. It is not often one can hear it in forum. But how can you play so fast ? You are great. Thank you for sharing
Here is my very quick and dirty try with ”an old out of tune” U4

Thanks for your comment.

I like the U4 and would love to see a mandolin rail added to it as an optional pedal choice ...

You play as fast as I do, but I don't think I play that fast anyway, had to smile at your comment - thanks again.

Great "how-to" video.. I love simple mechanisms.  I like the cornstarch trick to see where the hammers strike so that the felt can be cut into leaves.

Yes, I saw this video before I heard about PianoTeq and I just know that it would be a great addition to have a mandolin rail pedal option on the U4. I just love that sound - first heard in on a cassette [cough] years ago ! I think it's very different to the tack pushed into the hammers sound. Maybe it's a combination of the leather tongues and the metal bits added to the rail ?

Over to you Modartt ...

Ptq U4 and The Entertainer and mandolin rall (as requested)

This is really just a prototype, but it works. It’s a bit out of tune to give it that old-time feel!!
It’s not incredible, but I wanted to give it a shot, make an attempt

Yes Philippe, of course,
Recipe:

My Daw Garageband in Mac Mini late 2014:

Track 1) U4 Tall, mint 0,48, unison width 2,90, reverb room 2

Track 2 and 3:  F E Blanchet Harpsichord, impedance 1,38, sympathetic 1,27, reverb large hall
Tr 2 Blanchet 441 Hz
Tr 3 Blanchet 436 Hz     ( Searching for mandolin sound)  hope I got it right...

Playing all tracks together (kind of layering

I’ll work a bit more on this, not satisfied yet. Ptq has been developed for many years, this ”sound” also takes its time…..:)   as does the hammond sound.

Thank you and all the best,

Stig

Thank you Stig. So I understand you could obtain the same result with the Layering feature and one single track? Very interesting in any case!

Thank you Philippe! Yes, I did it  -  the same result with the Layering feature and one single track   And it went much faster and was easier with less work  (and easier to adjust volume balance).

Thanks for this layer feature, sometimes I forget all nice possibilities one have inside Pianoteq.
Modartt rules - the products are extremely cool, Modartt is great! Should be written on shirts

Re: Felt Piano - PianoTeq 7.4.1

very cool thread.  awesome to see a new fxp generated in essentially real time.  the video was very interesting too, although i have to say watching someone using a table saw always freaks me out.
