Topic: Pianoteq in live performance
Hi there. I've just installed a brand new Intel mATX platform with an Intel i7 2.83Ghz processor, 4Gb DDR3, PCIe Video-card and Windows 7 64-bit to be used in a live performance. Wow this setup is really amazing getting a performance index of almost 45 (256 polyfony at 96Khz without cracks)....but still....adjusting sliders in real-time results in clicks; i.e. for example when I change volume.
Does anyone know what the reason is, because I would assume that adjusting sliders involves updating the screen (the visual sliders) and the algorithms for newly played notes only.
It seems that it is also adjusting already played, but still sounding, notes, also altering audio-buffers and the algorithm involved. In the latter situation I can image an additional load on computation...and therefore the clicks.
Personally for me I would be fine that changing sliders would only affect notes that yet have to be played and hopefully avoiding clicks. In that case I can change parameters/sliders while playing.
