Topic: Setting up a Roland C-30 with Pianoteq. Is it possible?

Hi all,

I have a Roland C-30 I purchased about 12 years ago. It still sounds just as great now as it did when I first got it and only since I got PianoTeq have I stopped using it more often.

From reading the manual, as thin as it is, I found out I can set Local-control to off which is what is needed and the instrument has the other settings from what I can tell making it quite capable for what we need. It's not convenient, but it can be done like setting the time on a car-radio by pressing 11-keys with 3 fingers at the same time. (Kidding!) They physical cables are easy enough to work around because all I need is a converter between D-5 connectors on the C-30 to the new USB-controller type,

I would like to use the Pianoteq harpsicords with the C-30. The instrument has more convenient register changes as well as other features that I think will work well in conjunction with the virtual instruments, but that's where I've come to in this project.

Does anyone know if it's possible to setup Pianoteq with the C-30?

Thanks.

Yes, you totally can connect your beautiful C-30 to your computer.

As you mention, you need a usb-midi interface cable.
The Usb plug on the C-30 is only for storing data und system updates.
Plug the interface cable to the midi out of the C-30, and the Usb plug to your computer.
You can even make use of the audio input and use the internal speakers.
Just connect the audio out of your computer to the audio in of the C-30.
Turn off "local" with your 11-finger combination.

Start PTQ, go Edit-->Preferences-->Devices.
Under "Active inputs" you should either see your C-30 or probably the name or manufacturer of the interface. Checkmark it. Enjoy.

This is the interface i use.
It is fast and you can use both plugs as in OR out plugs. So you can connect 2 keyboards with one USB plug!

Ah, thank you so much for your help. I'll check out the interface I need to get. Yeah, I understand that USB port was for "future" updates that never occurred.

Your help is much appreciated.
