Topic: Suggestion: Piano with Strings (as in Violins, etc)

Hi!

A favorite sound of mine that many hardware piano synthesizers seem to offer is a combination of piano and orchestral strings.  (What a confusing topic here, since there are orchestral "strings" and pianos also have "strings"!  Anyway...)  As far as I know, to accomplish that sound with PianoTEQ requires running it as a plugin inside a host that can also run a strings synthesizer and mix them together.  I thought it would add a great amount of value to PianoTEQ to offer a very simple orchestral strings feature.  I can imagine only a few parameters would be required:  Overall strings volume (a.k.a. mix), and perhaps rudimentary ADSR controls for the strings sound.  It could even be super-simple FM synthesized strings; folks that want a really killer strings sound could continue to do it the "hard way."  This would be a feature that would be for the times I just want to sit down and mess around.

Anyway, PianoTEQ is of course fantastic; this is just my little $0.02 idea.

Re: Suggestion: Piano with Strings (as in Violins, etc)

I'm sure you realise that the Pianoteq software isn't even designed to reproduce bowed acoustic strings or  FM synthesizer sounds. Therefore what you are asking for is not trivial to put it mildly, and I cannot imagine they would add samples to Pianoteq today.

So yes it's better to create a template for your DAW that you can return to with a mouse click.

Within Pianoteq you might find you could create a pleasing combo of layered instruments in Standard or Pro, but it won't be that acoustic strings sound you are after.

Then again, similar things can be achieved within Pianoteq with morphing (and layering).
