Topic: Some (4) chorale improvisations (Pianoteqenthusiast)
Earlier in this sub-forum I have uploaded Den blomstertid nu kommer ( Now the time of blossoming arrives) played with Organteq.
Here I’m improvising with YC5 a bit on that song ”Now the time of blossoming arrives”, a Swedish summertime hymn/song. The text was printed in the Swedish psalm book in 1695 with the addition "Een Sommarwisa", A summersong, the text probably originates in older, profane poetry.
I think one of these improvisings could be intro to the chorale/song/hymn.
I was thinking of the text below when improvising
On 21 February the consistory asked Bach why he had been away for so long; his replies were unsatisfactory and barely civil. They next complained that his accompaniments to chorales were too elaborate for congregational singing, …….was ordered to apologize within eight days……. There is no evidence that Bach apologized, and the consistory dropped the matter for eight months. They brought it up again on 11 November, and Bach undertook to answer them in writing….
I wonder what people would say if I played my improvising before playing the chorale in in my city church - would they know which chorale to sing or…..
And what would the consistory 1703 have thought about my intros…..?
Note; When I’m improvising on a melody, I try not to go too far from the melody.
Anyway, I suppose this forum members are todays consistory….:)
