I have an MP8 which still works perfectly. Particularly if you want to use Pianoteq anyways instead of the internal piano sound, these stage pianos should be fine for the next decades to come. Sure, the keybeds slightly improve here and there with every generation. But this doesn't mean the old models are suddently bad.
Grand pianos did and still do improve, too. But who would replace a year 2000 Steinway D just because there is a new 2020 model with slightly improved mechanics? Still a lot of fun can be had with the year 2000 Steinway, even in 2020.
Same with an MP9500, when gotten for a good price and in good shape this should be worth a consideration.
If a notebook is too much of a hazzle, then a neat thing to have is imho a "Pianoteq soundmodule" with MIDI in and audio out that just produces a fixed plug and play piano sound. E.g. a Raspberry Pi with a suitable sound card (e.g. PiSound) can be used to build one.
