Topic: More bells (not whistles)
I've been enjoying the bells recently and would love to have more bell instruments. I know Pianoteq doesn't specialize in percussion but here's what I'd love to see in future packs.
Small chimes: choose a scale and the chimes swing and interact with one another when struck. Like sympathetic resonance except clinking together.
Anvil: Maxwell's Silver hammer was recorded with an anvil as an instrument. Sure, there are lots of anvil samples available but being able to humanize the strike point and hammer noise would increase the realism.
Fire extinguisher: similar to the anvil. XTC used one as an instrument on their English Settlement album and it was beautiful.
Gongs: messing with piano settings can create sort-of gong sounds already. Seems like it would be able to model decent gongs.
Flat sheet metal: a nasty gong sound. I don't have the steel drum pack (yet) so I don't know if this is something that can already be simulated. I've seen it used before, but I can't remember where. Maybe Peter Gabriel? Sort of a thunder effect.
Glasses with water: each hit would add to the energy of the wobble (wave). Diameter of the glass would affect the frequency of the wobble. You could have tapered glasses where the lower water levels would produce a faster wobble cue to the smaller diameter. Strike location would be affected by the water level...striking the side of the class above the water level would sound different from striking below the water level.
