I agree and it's even better in 7.  I've been using the NY Steinway since upgrading but I'm sure I will return to the K2.

All of these jazz back-tracks were done with Pianoteq 6 K2.

Wow, thank you MidiOpera for posting this link, really enjoying the Silver'sSerenade sax duo, a pure jewel! The back-tracks sound beautiful, very well done. What reverb did you use? Can you possibly share your settings in the fxp corner? I'd love to try it.

Hey, thanks for the kind words. That is me, btw, on tenor and alto through the the miracle of modern recording!

The K2 is Player Jazz which I darkened a bit by raising the bass @ 60hz by about 2 or 3, hitting zero @ 1000hz and rolling of in a straight line to -10 @ 12000. The reverb on the instrument is Studio Jazz but there is a second reverb on the output in Logic. Nothing overwhelming.

Again, this is in P'teq 6 or maybe even 5. I don't think 7 is as unnaturally bright. If I can figure out how to share the settings, I'd be glad to do so. If you know of an instructions guide, please let me know.

Regards.

Thank you for the information! For sharing the settings, here is how to proceed:

  • in the File menu, select Save preset, give it a name (let's say MidiOpera.fxp),

  • by default it will be saved to your "My Presets" folder. The path is something like .../Modartt/Pianoteq/Preset/My Presets, you can find it by clicking on the small folder image right to the "All banks" menu in the preset manager (to enter the preset manager, click on the pen right to the presets menu),

  • then upload the MidiOpera.fxp file to the fxp corner https://forum.modartt.com/fxpcorner/index.php by clicking on the "Upload an fxp" button.

Re: K2 warm preset

Really enjoyable.  The dual sax lines both harmony and unison remind me of the late 1960's album, DUCKY -  by Odell Brown and The Organizers

The K2 is definitely tops on the backing trac

Kudos,

Lanny

Nice, indeed !

Re: K2 warm preset

Ha, it's looking like as if I may have used the Hamburg Steinway D Prelude for Silver's Serenade.
There was some modification that I made to the K2 Jazz (Dark) patch but I didn't save the changes. When I went to do that, I didn't hold the save button long enough and now have lost the changes. It should be difficult to get one's own patch set up to taste. The EQ in the Modartt patch looks the same as the modification as I recall. Just change to roll off to a straight line rather than the few steps.
Thanks again to all who listened and commented on my work. I do appreciate the responses.
