Topic: YC5 modified for new composition

For this rendition of my composition titled Contemplation, I modified the YC5 preset in Pianoteq Pro for a clean sound, because the composition makes extensive use of the sustain pedal. I increased string length, reduced sympathetic resonance, decreased unison width, turned reverb and mic delay off. For a more distinct sound, I increased the harmonic content from C4 (middle C) down to G2 by attenuating the fundamental harmonic while maintaining note volume. Preset uploaded to FXP Corner as "YC7 Dry."

Re: YC5 modified for new composition

I uploaded a new recording, made with Pianoteq 7.1, to the above links.

Re: YC5 modified for new composition

As of now your audio is unplayable on my iPad.  I like the convenience of any audio file played on my device.  However, yours has an option that if I choose otherwise to download it I could.

You may want to consider audio files uploaded to Shared files hosted at this site are immediately available as both playable audio and downloadable files without any third party apps required on a mobile device such as an iPad.

Have you a need to forgo the Shared files option altogether?

Pianoteq 8 Studio Bundle, Pearl malletSTATION EM1, Roland (DRUM SOUND MODULE TD-30, HandSonic 10, AX-1), Akai EWI USB, Yamaha DIGITAL PIANO P-95, M-Audio STUDIOPHILE BX5, Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP.

I take your reply to mean you were able to download the flac file but that it will not play on your iPad. Here is a link to the same recording in mp3 format.

I got a response from you without a direct answer to my question.

I’m saying had you posted your audio onto this forum’s Shared files area —not the google drive— the format of the audio in the Shared files hosted by MODARTT would’ve sufficed and permitted the audio played both easily and right away on the iPad.

On the iPad I at this forum simply select and play any audio file uploaded to the MODARTT Shared files.  (I play easily any audio file other than your flac.)  Contrarily another iPad user who will see a flac file uploaded to a google drive is able only to download it, and once downloaded, play that on his iPad then.  An exception is if he agrees to use some third (3rd) party apps which can often require several stipulations from outside, totally unaffiliated with PIANOTEQ and MODARTT.

Anyway the mp3 on the iPad does play directly without a hitch if I am discounting the obvious listener having been directed to a web page away from this forum.

Sometime today if possible, I very much will want to have included details about your preset.  You neglect however to let the reader right away get any idea of just exactly which of the YC5 presets you modified per your description...

For this rendition of my composition titled Contemplation, I modified the YC5 preset in Pianoteq Pro for a clean sound, because the composition makes extensive use of the sustain pedal.

Well maybe later I’ll get to critique some of the composition, your own Contemplation.  I may get some time, if I can make some allowances for it today...

I prefer to provide links to my audio files rather than upload them to various sites. That way I can make improvements, such as recording with a new version of Pianoteq, without having to upload the file to every site where it exists. Besides that, a file attached to an e-mail cannot be changed. I checked the Shared Files section of this forum and found that the current version of my composition is there in the file Contemplation(1).mp3. I believe it is there because I uploaded it as the demo of the preset named "YC7 Dry" I uploaded to FXP Corner. I have found there is nothing inherently bad about hosting files on Google Drive.
