Topic: My favorite Erard 1922 fxp

Creating an fxp is much like cooking. First, you decide on which dish you want to prepare and then you search for the finest ingredients before starting.

I decided on "cooking" an Erard Recording preset. It's my favorite of all the instruments. I searched the forums and found my aromatics: the Equalizer and Res EQ and Res Dur curves posted by Qexl and the Spectrum Profile, String Length, and Effects posted by forum member BM from his fxp posted in version 6.

Then I made a roux with the Tuning panel by setting the Diapason at 432 and the Temperament with scala file Charles E Moscow Equal Beating of 1895. The final seasoning was finished off by widening the unisons to 1.90, the octave stretching to 1.23, and the direct sound duration to 1.14. After simmering on low heat for awhile, these are the results. Many thanks to Qexl and BM! Click on the album art for a few program notes.

In portuguese one of the words for condiment it's "tempero", so "temperament" ressambles somehow a flexion of portuguese word as act of adding condiment. So you are really cooking a piano.

Have you tried the Erard 1849?  (Kremsegg Collection)
Maybe if you morph Erard 1922 with 22% of the Erard 1849, you could have something like a 15 years older Erard.

Thanks, Qexl. Appreciate that. I agree, the Erard fxp posted by bm is one I love as well.

Glad you like my cooking! Though sometimes I have to feed some fxp attempts to the goat...

Fleer, I agree. I love the way von Sauer plays this and shapes the melody shared between the hands. One reason I'm into these early recordings is that they are a link to the past. Imagine hearing someone play that had heard Clara Schumann play. History seems much closer.

Beto-Music, interesting about tempero. I want to remember that!

Thank you for the suggestion to layer the two Erards. I had tried that but couldn't get the percentages to work. The 22% worked a charm. It sounds much like the Erard of Queen Victoria in the video when playing in Pianoteq but without as much reverb. So appreciate your sharing that.
