Topic: Adjust the sensitivity of black keys in Logic X
Hey all.
It bugged me for a while that the black keys on Doepfer's LMK+ master keyboards (and perhaps others with Fatar keybeds) are a little bit more sensitive than the white ones (possibly because the black ones are lighter?), which kinda ruins these nice keyboards. They offer some built-in correction scheme for that, but this just linearly reduces the overall velocity of the black keys - meaning that you lose all forte/fortissimo if you use it.
Anyway, I thought that perhaps others have the same pet peeve, and since this is easy to fix with Logic X's new Midi scripting feature, here's a simple Midi effect that
- makes black keys softer or brighter by some adjustable factor
- ..but preserves their pianissimo/fortissimo velocities
In Logic, choose Midi FX --> Scripter in some channel strip, paste the code at http://pastebin.com/JsSS9c1z into the script editor and it should work.
cheerio!
(here's what its parameter d does to a velocity value x:)
