Topic: New instrument idea

Hi, I was thinking for the Pianoteq 7 release, they should physically model a Yamaha or Kawai concert grand (Kawai EX, Yamaha FC, CF, or CFIII) because I thought it would be interesting at physically modelling popular pianos from the 1970-1990's, especially Yamaha.

Re: New instrument idea

There's already a Yamaha piano modelled, the YC5 Rock piano (Yamaha C5).
As far as I know, Yamaha doesn't want one of their pianos being modelled. Thus, Pianoteq has just called it YC5. The description says: "YC5 is modelled from a well known Japanese grand piano, frequently seen on stages and widely appreciated by touring artists for its musical qualities and reliability. It is also a popular instrument at conservatories and other music schools."

Have a nice day & happy playin'

Re: New instrument idea

One thing that's always puzzled me is that we have the YC5, that 'well known Japanese grand piano', and yet the KIViR collection includes the Yamaha CP-80, named in full ( https://www.modartt.com/free_stuff ). Can anyone explain that?

My guess because it is a freebie, and perhaps because it is a digital reproduction of a product long out of production or patent. OTOH a Concert 5 (or a current variant) is still a production model.

Re: New instrument idea

A Fazioli would be nice.

Re: New instrument idea

I would go for another Bechstein model, the current Bechstein is my most favorite piano on PTQ.
