Topic: Mason & Hamelin CC2 1975 FXP

Mason & Hamelin is the last mainstream US piano production company of concert grade instruments, other than Steinway. Their Concert Grands are the CC, CC2, and CC94. The former two are primary competitors of the Steinway D, designed to match it in most technical specs, but their sound is rather different. In recent years the CC94 has replaced the CC2 in the product lineup; it's a little longer at 9'4" (284cm) instead of the older 9' (274cm). The scaling is somewhat different, and the action is now made primiarily out of composites instead of wood and felt. However, "in the wild" the differences are fairly minimal. Both have a very strong treble, distinct bass, and a lot of projection power. Both also have a tension mechanism to help the piano keep its shape and tone more consistently over time.
The "feel" of the instrument is a little unusual when compared to other flagship instruments of other brands, because the balance between loud and soft or high and low react differently from instruments like the Steinway D: in some cases that is an interesting advantage, and sometimes it isn't...
This preset is based primarily on a 1975 CC2 but I also used a few reference recordings of a 2018 CC94.
