Topic: soundcard doesn't get signal from the piano

Did you suffer the problem when your souncard doesn't get the signal from your piano until you re-plug it in
A matter of fact that even when it doesn't get notes from the piano, I can see the light on the souncard that shows that piano is pluged-in

Yes, one of those things with Windows sound settings that I have not figured out.  And it doesn't even happen all of the time.  Sometimes the cure is restarting Pianoteq.  Sometimes the cure is re-starting the computer (a Windows SurfacePro).

I've had that issue off and on and my solution is to open up the ASIO interface and toggle the connection to the sound out on the soundcard in there.

I've been wondering if it maybe power management screwing with the connections because it turns off all kinds of things without any indication that devices and ports are turned off.

I run Pianoteq and Organteq on an old Mac and also on a new Mac ... I have not had this problem.  My son is an audio engineer and composer.  He runs Pianoteq on a PC with no problems either - although he has a custom built PC that is quite powerful with all the latest gizmos and 'Cray' banks.

I had awful problems on my laptop with the built-in Soundblaster and then awful problems on my desktop with that awful built-in Realtek stuff. I then dug through my box of pulled equipment and found an "older" SB FX card and it works fine.

Powerful machines do help with this stuff though for processing and so does a good sound card. I still think this is power management-related, because I have turned it off on my desktop for everything except the displays, and I have very few problems on my desktop like I did before. Your Mac may handle peripherals differently due to driver and OS differences.

This is fun stuff, yeah right! I used to be a hardware technician then later IT support guy before I retired so this stuff is still in my blood.

I got an annoying problem since the windows update in may. Whenever my Laptop goes in standby mode, my Focusrite audio interface turns off.
When i wiggle the mouse to wake the laptop up again, the interface takes like 30 seconds to get ready instead of being on immediately (like it did).
I use the very same energy settings since before the update.

"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

I've had the same problem. I ended up turning off all the power management, put my machines on the high-performance power-setting so nothing goes to sleep except my displays. It helps, but every time there's an update, things get "fixed".
