Topic: Many duplicate note-ON MIDI events (same note same velocity)

Hello pianists and Pianoteq friends:  My Pianoteq 6 is showing this message every time I play:  "Pianoteq is receiving many duplicate note-ON MIDI events (same note same velocity)".  What does that mean?  Is that Ok? If not, how can I fix it?  Thank you very much for any help on this topic!

Re: Many duplicate note-ON MIDI events (same note same velocity)

It's not OK. Check your MIDI inputs. Ideally you only need to have one enabled.

Hard work and guts!

It is not OK. Assuming cable etc. or software configuration (multiple MIDI inputs enabled) are not the issue, it may be that keyboard sensors are detecting 2 notes because of how it detects hammer movement is 'buggy'.

I had the same issue with Kawai NV10. I had to call Kawai and have it repaired (under warranty, thankfully).

Kawai MP11 has four MIDI zones, if you by mistake activate more than one for the same sector of the keyboard, you get the same MIDI message twice, three times, etc. Perhaps your keyboard has the same feature.

I had the same thing with M-Audio Keystation Pro, which had two different zone systems (zones and groups) which were interchangeable and hot-swap-able, and it caused much grief!

OP: What model of keyboard are you using and what connector/interface are you using to hook it to your computer?

And, yes, try seeing if the cable is shorted or not properly connected, because that--along with a software configuration issue--is very a frequent cause of this.  Do other MIDI hosts/DAWs on the same machine have this same kind of problem for you?

Hi Edgar,

As Evil Dragon mentions you have to set your midi input channels.

File ....
Audio / Midi Setup ....
(In the top panel), Midi ....

(In the lower panel), if it says "Any", click on it and select a single Channel.
This is usually Midi Channel 1.
Any Channel is actually all the Channels at once, sometimes called Omni mode.

So. after you have selected a single Channel, you won't get that message anymore.
