Topic: Samples are overrated
Hi,
anyone remember the times of Pianoteq 4? I loved it even then, but found myself quite regularly switching to e.g. the NI instruments (Maverick/Gentleman/Grandeur), just for the variety. Also the sound of Pianoteq could be a bit thin at times, a bit sterile.
In current versions I find myself switching less and less, while at the same time obsessively getting almost every Pianoteq instrument pack there is, okay maybe except the harp and vibraphone stuff. :-) (I guess what I'm also saying is what am I to do now with my NI instruments? Anyone who has a use for them? It's almost a shame. :-/ )
In any case Pianoteq is getting so much better all the time, and it is so unparalleled in terms of variety and flexibility. The only thing I'm missing is an improved and also maybe a second upright. The first one sounds a bit thin at times, but I still love the different feeling to it compared to a grand. That one is modelled after Yamaha, I guess. Were Modartt to make a Kawai-inspired second upright, I guess I'd delete my Kontakt Player altogether. :-)
