Topic: Presentation of Gesu Cavaillé-Coll organ

Dear Organteq user,

The French society Toulouse les Orgues  with which we have been collaborating is making a live presentation of the Cavaillé-Coll organ that inspired us for making Organteq. The presention will be given in French.

There are many organs here in Toulouse. The best known is perhaps the Cavaillé-Coll in Saint-Sernin Basilica. The one presented here, in Gesu Church, was also made by Cavaillé-Coll.

Don't miss it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwtcl83afIg

Best regards,
Roman

Re: Presentation of Gesu Cavaillé-Coll organ

Just listened to the presentation. There is indeed a lot of that instrument that can be heard in Organteq! It reminds me of a video I saw recently of Olivier Latry visiting the interiors of the Paris Notre-Dame organ (before the fire...). No problem moving around inside there, that one is so huge!

Thank you Roman and keep improving Organteq!

Re: Presentation of Gesu Cavaillé-Coll organ

Thank you for the tip. Nice video.

Googles auto-translated captioning was, as expected, a bit hit and miss, but I understood enough to enjoy myself, and the sonic examples were nice indeed. Here's the toulouse-les-orgues presentation page for this instrument:

While the text might be a bit opaque for those who, like me, can't really read French, the "Composition" of the organ should be understandable given a bit of interest in pipe organs. Google Translate does a fair-ish job of translating the text to English, though a few stop names becomes... interesting. Bumblebee 8' someone? Or maybe a Watch 8'? Perhaps that's a grandfather clock stop, to go with a Zimbelstern?

Here are some Wikimedia pictures of the instrument:

As an interesting alternative to the Cavaillé-Coll French organ presentation, here is one of a Shnitger organ typical I think of the German school (subtitled in english)
