Topic: Live recital on a Fazioli

Last April 14, super-virtuoso Marc-André Hamelin streamed a live recital from his Boston home. If you want to hear what a great pianist coupled with a great piano sounds like this is the place :

Recital starts around 3:00. The Debussy selections ending the recital are particularly impressive!

Some unnatural reverb added on the first piece for some reason, but it's much better afterwards.

(I don't know how long it will stay online)

Re: Live recital on a Fazioli

Thank you for posting that up, it was beautiful to listen to. The ambience of the first piece is different to the rest, indeed. If the order is preserved, I suspect it may have been a "first take", after which some changes were made. The camera position moves slightly and the light setting alters, also the chirping birds disappear, so perhaps doors or a partition closed off a more reverberant area before recording continued?

Re: Live recital on a Fazioli

I'm impressed with the sound quality for such relative small room for the piano size, and due the fact I see no visible microphone near the piano.

The Fazioli sounds distinct, with a spetial personality. It have a metalic sound but to the positive side of the word, a plesant metal sound, and not harsh metalic sound or "oing boing" metalic sound.
