Topic: Roland Facet Concept Piano
Though this is not directly related to PTQ, I came across this on youtube and haven't seen it in person, but it was shown at Roland's CES booth this year. While it's not intended to ever enter production, it's a digital concept piano which interestingly fits with some of the discussions that the community has had about transducers, piano emulation, and speaker configuration in recent weeks. I don't know how it sounds (or if it even makes sound), but it's certainly conspicuous, eye-catching furniture. It's winning entry from a "future of the piano" design competition started in 2015 by Roland.
While the action looks inexplicable, plastic-y, and somewhat alarming (why are there prisms cast on top of the black keys? why is there nothing to support the action from below during key strikes?), the primary concept could be an interesting one to pair with PTQ in the future--assuming it is either offered at a reasonably affordable price or perhaps as a simpler DIY built kit to save on costs.
