Topic: Stage to Standard upgrade questions

Hi,

In the FAQ it says that, when upgrading "instrument packs that are licensed to you will be included and updated"  I currently have Stage v4 so, does this mean that if I upgrade to Standard v6, my existing D4 will automatically upgrade to Steinway Model D and my existing K1 will automatically upgrade to K2 Grand Piano...and I'll also get to choose one more model?

The conditions of sale page also says that an upgrade "includes any minor or major release of the product made within one year of its activation". Does this mean that, after a year passes from activation even if I was able to download, say Standard v7.1 within the year, that I would not be able to download any updates, e.g., Standard v7.4 for free if it was released later?

Thanks in advance,
G

Re: Stage to Standard upgrade questions

Whenever you upgrade Stage v4 to Standard v6, you get to keep the Stage version just as it is as both of the versions can simultaneously run on the same system.  After an initial year of activation, any price of a subsequent release will apply.

Thanks!  Will the instruments get upgraded too, or will I just have the older v4 instruments running in v6?

Re: Stage to Standard upgrade questions

Said another way, instruments in v4 untouched by a v6 install are all updated in the new version.  Any legacy instruments are available always from the PIANOTEQ User area.  If no D4v4 is included in the initial v6 install, it is where you can still get D4v4 specifically.

Re: Stage to Standard upgrade questions

My understanding is that your pack licenses will always work in the current version (e.g. the D4 will become the Steinway D and the K1 becomes the K2--that's what happened with I upgraded from Stage 4 to Standard 6).  Once you own a version, you will get all updates for that version number (e.g. 6.0 will give you 6.6 or 6.7 or 6.8 free).  If, within a year of your upgrade, Modarrt releases a major version (like 7.0 or 8.0), you will get it for free.  Otherwise, you will need to pay the nominal version upgrade fee.

Amen Ptah Ra is absolutely correct that you will always have the option to load older versions of your instruments and of PTQ, but sometimes you can't have the current and legacy versions installed side-by-side in the same PTQ host application (like the old free instrument pack loaded alongside the new free instrument pack--the new one will automatically prevent access to the old one, probably the same with the D4 vs Steinway D).

Amen Ptah Ra is absolutely correct...

Thank you.  Well, of course I am, if I do say so myself, it does seem (like your mentioning) that which is very appropriate!  It is like (even) the "Ol’ Man River" song that was sung by one late Paul Robeson, one whose former bodyguard and his daughter I met.  Along with her then young son, she and I both played at Walker Creek when it was located next to a ranch of California north to me.  Regularly we played many games at the community a large gathering of people (everywhere) from different backgrounds.  (As a breakfast cook I had routinely prepared morning meals which were for all of them there {a lot of hungry kids included} or at the ranch parcel that then of Interface Canyon located sometime in 1976 inside Marin County, a part of northern California.)  But, as an accompanist on an upright piano —and surprisingly without any formal training— I played (music) for dance students in dance studios which were next to the dad’s karate classes he held for youngsters within a since defunct performing arts organization, Inner City Cultural Center (I.C.C.C.) no longer in an old Masonic Temple onetime a part of the particular landscape forming a southern California.

...the new one will automatically prevent access to the old one, probably the same with the D4 vs Steinway D...

Keep in mind, while different version updates of a singular model (those of a common nomenclature or simply the same model name) cannot run expressly together inside any one Pianoteq instance, a model such as a Steinway D (newly renamed) certainly can alongside an earlier D version, one named differently.  I got both in my v6.6.0 copy whenever I launch it on my iMac.

Now for some entertainment, I care to post a video (that is) since I’ve access to it.  It relates to a unicept that seems to bridge the song about a river, my learning from Walker Creek, my upbringing that was at my great grandparent”s Riverside farm and my breakup over my ex-girlfriend er childhood sweetheart.  To me she still sounds as sweet, and at a piano plays just as well:

Oops, I have to admit; tmyoung has a reply much more existential than mine.  Man, I was just theorizing.

I know when I got my upgrade from PIANOTEQ PRO Version 5 to PIANOTEQ PRO Version 6, I got to keep my Version 5 copy  —without any alterations to it.  I’ve assumed erroneously an upgrade from Stage Version 4 to Standard Version 6 automatically allows the Stage Version 4 copy to remain untouched.  Although when I upgraded from Standard to Pro, the Pro iteration replaced the Standard, aside from the boxed copy I keep.

I neglected to suggest, “Always backup!”  While looking at a 2012 forum registration date, I considered maybe a Stage Version 4 install was a backup somewhere and wanted was just some reassurance Stage Version 4 instruments will remain available.

Anyway with the PIANOTEQ newly added compact interface, you have on the surface, the familiar Stage look as an included update bonus!

Re: Stage to Standard upgrade questions

True again, my Stage 4 is still installed and fully-functional alongside my Standard/Pro 6 (though I never use my stage version anymore), but I don't know if I could re-install Stage later or on another computer.
