Topic: Pianoteq already BCI-Ready?

Has anyone ever tried to use pianoteq with activation of midi control events with a USB interface BCI (Brain Control interface)?
[we only have 10 fingers, 2 feet - more or less well controlled, it's true ... but also the ability to control additional virtual "members" from our brain through a BCI interface. .., this is what we learn quickly with the experimentation of a neuronal interface. Ensuring accurate control is of course another story with a (preferably) non-invasive interface.]

Anyway, after a quick test with my old interface BCI OCZ NIA, Pianoteq already appears, at least to a 1st level of "basic" experimentation sufficiently customizable to be to a certain extent "BCI-Ready". (eg: by activating the computer keyboard function and associating notes on the extreme right of the keyboard with midi controllers. The BCI interface, after "parameterization", is able to simulate keystrokes or movements on joysticks ... if the EEG headset wearer gets to focus enough ...)
NB: A headset with more sensors would certainly be much more efficient for that,
(eg Emotiv EPOC with 14 channels: https://www.emotiv.com/epoc/)  [ideally for a bald person ...])

In the meantime - in "a few" years maybe? - non-invasive and more reliable brain-drived midi controllers, to add new virtual limbs to the arms and legs to play an instrument, more subtly modulated according to a "controlled" emotion ...

Woah, fascinating, thanks Bruno - best of luck with your controller.

To express music with a tool like this does seem a fabulous proposition with Pianoteq and would love to keep up on how you're getting on with using it. Couldn't but smile throughout the vid.

Besides being a tool for able bodied people, I imagine it could be fantastic for those with physical hurdles, even as a therapeutic device.

If it really can amount to something like in the YouTube video, sitting, thinking and emitting largely controlled original music to a certain standard, it might be one of those tech areas which suddenly become all the rage in some markets. Of course, a multi-player or ensemble fit out could be legitimately crowd worthy stuff.

I imagine experimenting with plugging in overnight to compose sub-conscious nocturnes to listen to on waking. The times I've had to let go of a musical idea on waking.. a thing of the past. This kind of thing seems a fantastic possibility, even more attractive to me than recent physical controllers which are developing quite well at broadening expression via MIDI. I would love to live with some of those but I've invested too much time on instruments and this stage of life, cutting out that middle man (physical handling of the instruments) would actually be the ultimate prize. Thanks for trying this out!
