Topic: What are your favorite pianos on Pianoteq?

Everything is in the title.

Before that, I want to say that this list is subjective and doesn't mean anything. Your list will differ from mine, you will dislike and like other instruments, and that's okay. I thought that it might be interesting to know which pianos are statistically more liked than others.
You might also like another instrument (harp, harpsichord, electric piano...), and that's okay too, don't forget to put it on your list.

With that out of the way, here is my list in order from most liked to most disliked:

(the ones that I don't own are listed with an *)

1. Ant. Petrof,
2. Steinway B,
3. C.Bechstein,
4. Steingraeber,
5. Kremsegg1 (Erard > Streicher > Besendorfer > Dohnal),
6. Blüthner,*
7. Grotrian,*
8. Grand K2,
9. Steinway D,
10. U4,*
11. YC5.*

I would also like to know which pianos are closer to the real ones.

For me at least, it seems like the Steinway B is close to a real Steinway B. On the other side, I don't feel like the Steinway D is close to a real Steinway D (maybe I am mistaken; I haven't had the chance to listen to one in person). Don't get me wrong though, it is a beautiful instrument.
The Ant. Petrof seems to be the most realistic (not close to the real one, although it might be the case).

The Blüthner is a tough one. I really like that one, especially the bass notes, but I don't like the middle ones. I think the Blüthner needs a refinement like the new instruments. This one is definitely number 1 on my wishlist though.

The YC5 is not my kind, the middle to high notes are strange I would say. This is kind of sad because the bass notes are great too.

Overall, Pianoteq is such a great experience. Every day, Pianoteq impresses me more than before.

* Steinway B
* U4

Re: What are your favorite pianos on Pianoteq?

I have all the pianos, and I like all of them. Each one has his own character, special personality.... suitable for different pieces.

Re: What are your favorite pianos on Pianoteq?

Bechstein became my favorite. The most complete picture of the sound and the best in the details ..

Re: What are your favorite pianos on Pianoteq?

The most I like :

Steingraeber, Warm and Bright
Bechstein Cinematic
Steinway Intimate
Petrof rec 2

Sometimes using:

YC5 Solo (sounds like a Yamaha upright with lid open, that i have played)
Bluethner Model One AB
U4 Tall (sounds like an upright Hellas B2, finnish piano, Now made in China, Pearl River)

Next buy could be Steinway B

Re: What are your favorite pianos on Pianoteq?

On my system, looking at nothing but the Player presets, the C. Bechstein D.G. is the cleanest and most realistic-sounding, the most like my acoustic.  The Steinway B  and then the D are up there pretty closely, then followed by the Ant. Petrof, then the YC5 and then the Steingraeber.

The Bluethner, my favorite from the early ver 5 days, is now the most unlike a piano in the current ver 6, with a rounded, softened, through-a-tube sound, as if it's got way too much 'case noise' and reverberation (even though I have reverb turned off), and then it's covered with a blanket.  The Grotrian is a close second in the unrealistic race, running slightly ahead of the Bluethner because it doesn't sound like it's being heard through a blanket.

The interesting thing about the Bluethner in the early Ver 5 days is that it seemed to be everyone's favorite for using as a base to make FXPs that sounded like Steinways, Steingraebers, Fazollis, Bosendorfers, etc., as if it was the most conformable and moldable.  That characteristic didn't carry into ver 6.

...And that C. Bechstein D.G. is Oh so good!

Kawai MP11SE / Pianoteq Pro Studio Bundle v7.5.2 (includes every Pianoteq instrument - 21 currently)

Re: What are your favorite pianos on Pianoteq?

i have all of them, including the electric pianos and Kremsegg.  all are excellent and fun.  probably YC5 and K2 are the ones i use the least.

Re: What are your favorite pianos on Pianoteq?

For me, after all these years, it is still Blüthner.

Re: What are your favorite pianos on Pianoteq?

I haven't got the Bechstein but I think I have all the other grands and the Steingraeber has become the one I play almost exclusively.

Re: What are your favorite pianos on Pianoteq?

My absolute favourite is the Steinway B because of his very musician-friendly dynamical range and especially because of his beautiful sound :-)))
From pp to mf he sounds very lyrical what is great to perform romantic songs (f.e. Schumann, Schubert, Chopin Nocturnes...)
From f to fff he sounds more and more agressively which also allows to perform f.e. strange Beethoven sonatas or agressive Bartok pieces.

Surely the Steinway B is not to 100% perfect:
Depending on his short length (Steinway B 2,11m, many other grand pianos 2,4m - 2,7m instead) the lowest bass notes don't have that bass basement like bigger grand pianos (f.e. the Steinway D with 2,7m). This can be heard and must be said.

Nevertheless this grand piano is my favourite instrument to perfom music from any composer in a way that moves my heart and my soul too.
All other Pianoteq pianos that I've tried until now don't seem to be able for me to reach the extraordinary dynamical and lyrical range of the Steinway B.
Surely many of these instruments sound really well too, but they don't seem to be "the one grand piano" for "any cases" like the Steinway B does for me.
