Topic: Piano videos: Yamaha Blues (Not for a sound reference)

Posting this link NOT for the way the recording captures the piano, but for the playing: traditional Kansas City blues on a Yamaha grand:

This guy was 14 when he recorded these.

Unbelievable! Jeez that kid can play, makes feel like giving up lol!

Re: Piano videos: Yamaha Blues (Not for a sound reference)

Yeah. Admittedly, more than a little of it appears to be taken from books, and there's the repeated bass, and many "licks." But he's really good at pulling it all together. And he's clearly really enjoying himself.

Re: Piano videos: Yamaha Blues (Not for a sound reference)

Very nice !!!

And the piano sound it's very plesant too. No digital piano, piano sampler, even with the best sound system in this planet, would render that sound as captured by a camera.

Interesting...   Jerry Lee Lewis used to play much faster than this skilled kid.  But to perform the walking bass Jerry always need to use his two hands just to the walking bass alone.

Háa háaa háaaa...   Someone need to teach Jerry to play the walking bass with a single hand.

I like his playing on "My Own Blues." Nice stride blues.

I've never seen the book it's apparently taken from. Only in German, looks like: Christian Willisohn's "The Real Blues 'n Boogie Buch." Anyone here know das buch?
