Topic: do you have to have ASIO drivers and will they work with Realtek?

I have Realtek audio and wondered will Pianoteq work without ASIO drivers?

thank you
Fran

Re: do you have to have ASIO drivers and will they work with Realtek?

Hi Fran,

you can download and try a Pianoteq demo for free, see if it will work.

Systems are different, but I think it's likely you'll need an ASIO driver - but maybe if you have a recent system and latest drivers - won't know for sure until you try.

If you can't get it to work, ASIO4ALL [<<Link] runs really well with my Realtek audio.

There's info at their website about what it does and what some settings are.

Some audio interfaces ship with their own ASIO drivers but ASIO4ALL should be fine on a lot of Windows PC systems.

Best of luck, post back if you hit a snag.

I just downloaded ASIO4ALL to my laptop that has Realtek High Definition Audio(SST) speakers.  The audio device type drop down recognizes "ASIO" (not "ASIO4ALL" if that's meaningful).  When I choose ASIO in the audio device type drop down, the device drop down menu shows "none."  If I choose Windows Audio in the Audio device type drop down, the rest of the window changes dramatically.  I now see a window identifying Active output channels 1 & 2, sample rate of 4800Hz and Audio buffer size of 480 samples.

Why can't I get ASIO to run when it shows it is on my computer?  Why don't I get the same options and information when I select ASIO that I get for Windows Audio?  Is there some setting I need to check?  If so, where do I find it, since it doesn't appear in the Pianoteq Options window?

I think you have to enable your in and outputs in the asio for all edit panel......

Great suggestion, Emanuel.  I didn't realize there were settings in ASIO4ALL.  When I downloaded it, Pianoteq recognized it as noted above.  But based on your suggestion, I opened the exe and discovered it apparently had not really installed!!?!  So I installed it and, while I haven't hooked up my laptop to my controller again, I expect it to work since ASIO4ALL is now appearing in the Audio Device drop down.  Thanks!!

no thanks.....
I have the impression that there are more who have problems to install these everyday asio drivers on their system.
So for now and always, you have to download and install them on your computer and then you have to enable your inputs( if necessary)and outputs in the asio for all control panel......

It looks ,I am repeating myself......
