Topic: 6.5.4

just downloaded it ... haven't tried it yet but didn't see any thread mentioning it.

Re: 6.5.4

"6.5.4 (2019/08/12)
Extended range on some historical and chromatic percussion instruments: use +- on the left of the keyboard to switch between original and extended range.
Volume reduction on some MKII presets."

Re: 6.5.4

Awesome!

I would love if the state of + button were rememebered for all instruments, though. That is, if you choose extended range for all instruments, it would apply to any other instrument you load...

Hard work and guts!

Re: 6.5.4

ED, what about freezing the "Keyboard range" in the freeze panel?

Love the way Pianoteq is getting fine tuned with such dedication.

Sounds like a perfect solution to my suggestion!

Hard work and guts!

Re: 6.5.4

like this extended range a lot.....
hope this can be ‘extended’for more models in the future.....
I should say ,88 keys for all instruments in extended mode.......
when improvising, how many times I am just playing notes without sound.......
it’s not intuitive to remember where to stop on that keyboard......
any way many thanks for a big step in the right direction......

here is a copy from what I suggested in 2010 in a post on this forum

Dear Modart team
When you can manage to extend the pianos to 105 notes,it should be possible to extend the range for the'mallet-boys' by at least one octave.
It's sometimes frustrating to improvize on a resized 88 keys controller.
If there are other users who feel the same limitation while performing ,let you here..........
I like to repeat again that pianoteq is the most playable electronic instrument I ever tried............

We just uploaded KIViR.ptq and bells.ptq in the user area, with an 88 keys extended range. Hence now the extension should be complete, all instruments have at least an 88 keys extended range. Make sure you have the latest Pianoteq engine update.

Re: 6.5.4

Another excellent update, thank you Philippe and team!

Never ceases to amaze how well Pianoteq proceeds.

Is this functionality available for Stage? I don't see "keyboard range" anywhere in the parameter freeze menu. A great update anyway, should be fun to try out the full keyboard range on other instruments.

Re: 6.5.4

I don't use Stage so I wouldn't know...

I've just saw that Pianoteq actually had this parameter already, so it all works. Thanks, Philippe!

No, "keyboard range" is not included in the Stage freeze menu. But the extension works.

Thank you Modartt and Beta Teams for this update,

Just keeps getting better

(Isn't that a song

Warmest regards,

Re: 6.5.4

Just want to add my thanks for the extended ranges. These are fantastic. Not only were the ranges of all these instruments extended, but a lot of care obviously went into this work as the extensions sound very nice. If you don't own any of the percussion packs, you might want to take another look at them, like the steelpans for instance -- impressive.

Re: 6.5.4

I find it a bit difficult to understand why the "purity" of the original instrument needs to be reduced in this way.  I suppose the choice between extended or not remains optional?

I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order

One way around it is to just not play those notes... just a crazy thought I know.

Pianoteq 8, most pianos, Studiologic 73 Piano, Casio Px-560M, PX-S 3000, PX-S 1100, PX-S 7000, Mac i27 and MacBook Pro M3, SS Logic SSL 2

Yes, it is optional, simply click on the +- button to the left of the User Interface keyboard to switch between original and extended range. The whole instrument is updated accordingly, including the sympathetic resonances.

Re: 6.5.4

Great to see custom presets save with extended range state preserved. (maybe worth mentioning in case it seems like a frozen parameter only setting).

I'll be editing any relevant preset and saving versions to own folders with whatever names wanted.

Along these lines:

"MKII YourEditName A"

&

"MKII YourEditName A - Xtd"

At a glance (or automated in gig software) you will be able to safely load whichever settings and range state you need without having to consider or alter freeze params if you don't want to, esp. while in mid gig.

Thought about how Beethoven would enjoy extended range esp. Broadwood or the Walter.. makes my day that we have been given his dream of a larger piano, within realms of aural possibilities of those early makers, in this way by Modartt - always thankful for the delight in enjoying these possibilities and realities with Pianoteq.
