Topic: I bought the Bechstein package but it does not show up as OK

I purchased Stage with two instrument packs, the Steinway B and the Bluthner.

Today, I purchased the Bechstein pack and followed their directions on how to authorize it. It shows up in my user account on the website but not in the version of Pianoteq I'm running on my MacBook Pro. I have hit the Options Update Licence many times, Quick Activation, and it tells me it will take my new key into account but I don't get the new module authorized. I have tried rebooting.

How can I fix this problem?

Thanks,

Larry

Re: I bought the Bechstein package but it does not show up as OK

I have a similar problem. I purchased the C. Bechstein DG pack today, registered it and activated it as per the instructions, and now, although I have registered and activated 12 other packs, only the Steinway D and the Grand K1 come up as fully operational packs. All of the rest are now in the demo mode. Like you, the C. Bechstein package appears as a register product under Your Account---registered products along with all of my other packs.

I have sent a report of this problem to Pianoteq support, and I have found them previously to be extremely helpful. It's just a drag not being able to hear my newly purchased Bechstein pack, or any of my other purchased packs in the fully operational mode!

p.s. I have the Pro version.

Thanks for the reply, I see I am not alone. I have the Stage version. Like you, I have sent an error report to Pianoteq.

I'll probably buy all of the packs, eventually. It so much fun to hear new piano sounds, as I'm sure you know.

I hope they fix this problem quickly.

Re: I bought the Bechstein package but it does not show up as OK

Ok, I heard from Pianoteq and they said there was a problem with the license activation and that they were working to fix it.

Well, this morning, I have the new Bechstein package! I'm a happy camper.

Re: I bought the Bechstein package but it does not show up as OK

Once again the Modartt folks were extremely responsive. Now I have all of my instrument packs back, including the new C. Bechstein!

Yay!

Re: I bought the Bechstein package but it does not show up as OK

Minor question on the C. Bechstein.
Will it run at all on ptq 5 ?
I am not asking if it will run to its full glory, full capability, just will it run without the 6.4 refinements ?

"requires Pianoteq 6.4 or higher" - this will be when this Bechstein appeared as an available model.
I don't think it will even appear in your list of available sounds.

I just got the last two new piano models in the 30% off sale today.
The extra realism in the upgrade to version 6.5 is worth more to me than all the extra piano models I have added since getting the first D/K pack and KIViR sounds with version 5, even though I really like all the extra pianos.

Pianoteq has the required code for all the instruments hardwired into the code (with the possible exception of the KiViR instruments - not sure how they work).  You need the appropriate code version to get it to work and even appear listed.  The Bechstein DG requires version 6.4 to work and will not appear listed simply because it didn't exist in code before that.

If you're not eligible for a free update to v6 then I you need to upgrade your version (which is pretty cheap for 29 euro if I recall).  I'd strongly recommend version 6.5 anyway as all the instruments improved noticeably.

I always found it odd that KIViR isn't simply preinstalled into the software, so that new users couldn't miss it. I guess it may be something to do with licensing as the other models are commercial products?

Re: I bought the Bechstein package but it does not show up as OK

I know it says 6.4 required, but that could mean for the FULL benefits, quality, etc.

I've never got into the specific unlock algorithms for ptq, but some are fairly simple once you have the code - and now that I think about it I seem to remember that PTQ seems to generate that from some "profile" of the machine that you install on, at least for the program - it could be very different for the instruments.

Yes, almost certainly need different activate codes for Raspberry - as well as different binaries<grin>

The commercial key codes only unlock the new models within the program (turning off the time limit, and enabling disabled piano keys). There is nothing to download, unlike buying a whole new VST for instance.

The old versions of the software don't even have that data in them to unlock (the piano models aren't there) - unless there is old development versions of the models in there that we would never need to be told about anyway, and I seriously doubt even that!

I agree, $39 isn't a HUGE sum of money.
OTOH, IF there is ever another discount on upgrades ...I might jump at a 30% discount off the upgrade from Standard to Pro.
So running on 5.8 Standard for a while longer may be a better strategy (for me.).
My Raspberry project is awaiting the R4 anyway, since the 4 Gig version is not yet generally available.

So, I would still like to know if anyone has managed to get the Bechstein to run in 5.8, however "Crippled".

BTW, Bluethner, Grotrian and Model B all show up in my DEMO instruments menu - I think at least one of those "requires" some version of PTQ 6.

EDIT::
I just checked, no the three I mentioned above do NOT "require"  version 6

I explained what is wrong with that question in post 11.
