Topic: Can't figure out how to connect PianoTeq to RD-2000

Hello! Before purchasing PianoTeq I am trying to play around with the demo version just to see if I like it.
The problem is I know nothing on how midi controls work or anything, and I cannot seem to figure it out.
I have the midi hooked up to my RD-2000 to usb to my computer,  but I'm not sure how to get the sound from pianoteq to come through to my studio monitors that are hooked up to my RD-2000.

What I want: the sound from pianoteq to play through the studio monitors that I have hooked up to my RD-2000

If anyone could help, that would be amazing. I am hearing audio response from my computer when I play, meaning the midi IS working but my roland is quiet.  There is also a quite amount of latency but that could just be because it's a demo? Not sure.  All help is appreciated, thanks!

RD-2000 has a built-in audio interface, so you need to set Pianoteq's audio output to go through that audio interface.

Hi,
Unfortunately my RD2000 is packed away as we are in the process of moving house but I'll try and remember the process.
Once you have made your connections (computer to keyboard) you need to follow the instructions in this video to set the piano to Vendor.

You then need to install the roland Rd2000 driver (also in the video). I would also suggest you download the Asio4all driver (google it) as well as the
RD2000 driver. This is a very good driver that helps latency problems.
On your RD2000 the green light above slider number five and both green lights above slider nine should be lit.
When you play the piano keyboard the red lights should appear on the Pianoteq keyboard on the screen.
If it still does not work, check that you have set the audio driver to Asio4all or RD2000 in the pianoteq menu settings.
Play around with the Pianoteq settings to further improve latency.

I hope this works, if not send me a PM as I originally set up the RD2000 to play Ravenscroft 275 and it automatically worked for Pianoteq.
One thing I really love about using these piano is that it's so easy to mix internal RD2000 sounds with external sounds (adding strings to pianos, etc).

So if RD-2000 has a built in audio interface, I do not have to purchase an external audio interface?  I already have a MIDI to USB connecting my computer to the piano, will my computer then automatically download it?  Or do I have to purchase a USB to USB cord that connects the RD-2000 to my PC to install the driver..

To add, my computer IS detecting my RD-2000.  I hear audio playback and I see the red keys lighting up on PianoTeq, the thing is the audio comes from my computers speakers, not my Yamaha HS5's I currently have hooked up to my RD.

Hi,
You need to download the Asio4all driver and use that.
The USB to midi cable is the correct one, so if your Computer does not recognise the RD2000
try an alternative cable. Make all the connections, start your Computer first, and then the RD2000.
then the Pianoteq program.
Once you have done this you can go through the Pianoteq settings and activate the Asio4all driver.
If all else fails, try Pianoteq customer support.

Hi,
Make sure you turn up the volumes using both the sliders under the green buttons.
If I'm being honest I really struggled setting up Ravenscroft 275 but trial and error
will get you there.

Hi, you need a USB to USB cable if you want to use the Roland's USB audio interface. With the driver from Roland, you can use the USB connection for MIDI and audio IN/OUT. (Roland's USB driver can be downloaded here: <https://www.roland.com/global/support/b...s_drivers/>, and needs to be manually installed - well maybe except on Windows 10, where according to their documentation it should auto-download, but they still make it available on their driver page...) If you use a generic USB midi driver instead of the Roland one, you will only get MIDI, no audio connections. (Same with your existing MIDI cable, since no audio data is transported over that.)

Hello,

the auto update thing doesn't work.

Download 'RD-2000 Driver Ver.1.0.0 for Windows'
Instead of the one for Windows 10.
Then you need a USB A to USB B cable.
Which looks like a old usb printer cable.
I'd suggest you to use the Vendor driver in the RD2000, which you'd need to select, because it supports to be used as an input and output device, like a real interface!
Then in PianoTeq, select RD2000 USB Midi.

Also I'd suggest that you create a new program on your RD2000 which has the first MIDI channel set as External.
Also this program should have KeyTouch: Medium +6. And don't forget to activate High Res Midi on your RD2000.
I'd suggest you buy the C.G Bechstein with Recording 2 Preset, this is the one I use.

About proper velocity curves: I don't know, I can reach velocity of 100, with that mentioned keytouch, but not further.
However, you could ever change the velocity curve. But I don't did that, because it's good enough for me.
