Re: Beethoven

Hi _DJ_,

what a superb journey!

You are producing something very special with this piano, I feel. Recording-wise, I think your ears have done you a service - it sounds a delight to me.

You are modest, mayhap, but I loved your confident performance. Flourishes so deft, the left hand doing the Beethoven boogie (ref. rolling growling bass oc), your turns of phrase and sincere exploration elevated, for me, these pieces are rarely heard on an era piano like this - rare treat. (this music is too often overt grandiloquence sweetened for modern audiences, fine but thick-set orchestration with brass like the sound of fuzzy battlements for theatrics).

I didn't expect to enjoy them (thanks to early school years most likely) - and at first, I wondered where you were going - and there you went - quite exciting to hear. Thank you for your work with the Broadwood, it really is a charmer under good hands such as yours.

Thank you for such an unexpected and entirely wonderful experience.
