Topic: Smallish feature request: Make the FXP folder easier to access

Not the Preset Manager, but instead the FXP folder. The Preset manager is easy to reach, but a little limited if I want to search for a file by date of creation, or the author, or any of the tags that Windows allows.

Now, finding an old fxp can take several steps:

1. Click on the name of the current preset
2. Hover over "Load an FXP file" and then click on "Choose FXP file"
3. Find and double-click on the file.

It would be nice to be able to click a single button that opens the FXP folder.
Also valuable would be a keyboard shortcut to open the FXP folder. (There is one for the Preset Manager, and for loading a MIDI file, but not for the FXP folder.)

An alternative might be to increase the number of headings in the Preset Manager to include the date of creation, the author, etc. But that might end up reinventing the wheel that is the FXP folder.

A still smaller concern: The convention in most Windows programs is to be able to open a template or preset from the File menu. We can almost do that from Pianoteq's File menu. We can choose the next or the previous instrument or the previous or next FXP, but we can't open a file folder to see all of the instruments and\or fxp's from that File menu.

Re: Smallish feature request: Make the FXP folder easier to access

Hey Jake,

we can right-click directly on our custom presets in the list, and choose "open the preset folder in file manager".

The defaults don't allow that - but makes sense, to protect them. I like the idea of a button.

++ def. agree the other 2 ideas (keyboard shortcut + menu item to open that folder) would be really helpful.

All banks:
1. Why not open the 'All banks' folder on the righthand side?
Launch your folder from your computer by clicking the folder icon. Then you could drag-and-drop your FXP files from your computer window unto the Pianoteq interface to load them.
2. Make a folder in that section with the FXPs you want?

Drag-and-drop works like this for other files as well, midi, scala etc.

Create a shortcut for the All Banks folder on the desktop and then open it before opening Pianoteq? Makes perfect sense, but I will forget to open that folder first, so I will instead open Pianoteq, drag it to one side to find the folder, etc. This is with the standalone version. With the vsti version, it would mean having to reduce the size of the daw to allow room for the All Banks folder or having to minimize the daw to reach the folder.

It would be nice to just have that All Banks button--maybe just a button with the conventional icon of a folder on it--to the left or right of the box that displays the current instrument name.
