Topic: Garageband 10.3.2 - asked to register when loading plugin

Hi folks,
I have started playing with garageband again after a long time away. I was trying to load Pianoteq as a plugin in Garageband and was surprised when I was prompted to register, because I have been using the standalone just fine for ages, and don't recall running into this issue in the past. Anyone have some insight on what might be going wrong and what I can do?

Thank you,
MM

Re: Garageband 10.3.2 - asked to register when loading plugin

Does GarageBand have something like "Re-scan VST Plugins" in prefs? Hope that's it.

In various DAWs, if you update or upgrade a plugin, you will (never/sometimes/often/always) need to manually go to the DAW's preferences and find something like the above.

If it's not that, maybe provide a little more info (some exact dialog box messages - and exactly what triggered them - what exactly changed since before - did you update something, that kind of thing - specifics help esp. if it's not a typical error.)

Re: Garageband 10.3.2 - asked to register when loading plugin

I use an older version of GarageBand and the plugin always asks to update the license on first use with an updated version. Seems normal to me, if a bit annoying.

I think Julien once mentioned to me that GarageBand manages its own sandbox so some public information from the standalone version has to be replicated internally.

Re: Garageband 10.3.2 - asked to register when loading plugin

If the standalone has been being used, would this not have been to register the plugin into the second of the three activation slots?

Re: Garageband 10.3.2 - asked to register when loading plugin

I have the same issue (with Garageband 10.3.5) - I have Pianoteq installed on a iMac as a standalone version. When I wanted to use it today in Garageband (as a plugin) to play a midi file with PT sounds it prompted me to activate the plugin-installation of PT. That would be the second activation on this machine. I don't want to use an activation slot just for that, so I haven't done it yet.

Was I wrong in assuming that parallel uses of two 'shapes' of PT (standalone + plugin) on one machine would count as actually one machine (out of the three allowed) - or am I just doing something wrong in Garageband?

Thanks!

Re: Garageband 10.3.2 - asked to register when loading plugin

I've also Garageband 10.3.5.  Whenever I use a plugin initially in 10.3.5, I do need to reactivate it (that is) whether or not I already used it in another application on my one iMac computer.

I see however in my user area: Pianoteq 7 Studio Bundle, Activation slots: 1/3.

Pianoteq 8 Studio Bundle, Pearl malletSTATION EM1, Roland (DRUM SOUND MODULE TD-30, HandSonic 10, AX-1), Akai EWI USB, Yamaha DIGITAL PIANO P-95, M-Audio STUDIOPHILE BX5, Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 DSP.

Me too. GB 10.3.5  Ptq 7 Standard. Mac Mini late 2014.
I have had to activate again a few times and activation slots still 1/3.

Re: Garageband 10.3.2 - asked to register when loading plugin

Thanks both, I activated the plugin alongside the stand-alone installation, and indeed it still counts as only one slot.
