Topic: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

Pianoteq in Standalone has the awesome feature that it records automatically.

is that feature not available when I use Pianoteq in my DAW (Reaper)?

there is no File Edit Window Help toolbar, at the top of the Pianoteq GUI in Reaper.

so, I'm guessing its not available?

Re: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

Yeah it's not available in plugin version.

Hard work and guts!

Re: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

ah ok.
thank you very much for your reply.
would you please tell me another thing?
can I use a Reverb plugin (for example 2CAudio Breeze), in Pianoteq Standalone?
I am guessing no.

Re: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

No, Pianoteq standalone doesn't host plugins.

Hard work and guts!

Re: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

thank you very much again.
you are very kind.

Re: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

You can however use reverbs in Reaper and send Pianoteq's output to it.

Re: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

Yes, or if you have the Standard or Pro version of Pianoteq you can import IR files to standalone.

does anyone ever feel like Pianoteq sounds better in Standalone, than in their DAW?

how do you like how that sounds compared to Pianoteq's reverb?
and would you please tell me how to do that?

If the sound pressue levels are not actually the same the perception of tonality will be markedly different. Read about the human hearing curve of equal loudness:

That will depend entirely on the quality of the IR files and the way you set the reverb and delay settings - coupled to the microphone positioning (if in Standard or Pro versions).

In Reaper it is easy to just add any convolution or algo reverbs to the plugin so I would do it that way. Reaper won't gobble up your CPU or memory resources and opens as fast as the standalone Pianoteq so...

Re: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

I agree that it's certainly a lot easier to use a reverb plugin in Reaper rather than import an IR to Pianoteq standalone.

Re: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

thank you very much, to both of you.
your replies are super helpful and super appreciated.

thank you very much.

Re: Pianoteq Standalone compared to in a DAW

Agree with all the advice above.

Only adding, in case others find helpful, if you're hearing standalone as better, check your DAW's audio preferences. Some improvement may be a click away inside the DAW preferences - sample rates, buffer size mismatch etc.
