Topic: Cakewalk Sonar for Windows, renamed, is now a free program (!)

Only for Windows, for now. Seems to be the full program--I downloaded and installed it, and it seems full-featured. Plays well with Pianotq. Here are a SOS article explaining why and confirming that this nice DAW is free, and the link to the download page. (See note below the links, please.)

After you click the orange and then red download buttons, an installer program is downloaded first. Once you open that downloader, you must then choose the uppermost choice to download Cakewalk. You can also download a few free plugins. Takes a while to download and install. Give yourself at least 15 minutes, at least. But it's good.

Yeah, I guess I'm a little behind the times on this. Glad I found it, however. Nice program with a score view, and there's a theme editor, too.

Yes, Sonar it's free since april 2018 but it's good to reminder it.

Haven't used it in ages - thanks Jake! Another one slow to the uptake here

Just noticed, (due to a question elsewhere like "does Pianoteq standalone sounding better than as a VST in a DAW?") - Cakewalk ran at 16 bits out of the box here - and some things definitely seemed to sound not as nice as standalone or some other DAWs. Easily fixed to an extent by upping the specs in 'preferences' of course..

Anyway, just a heads up if it helps some to attain better audio.

2 crashes though - and the tie-in (you are the product) to online band cloud stuff may not appeal to the more old school maybe.
