I like the look of it. Flat black all across like how the Kawai VPC1 is.

Forgot to mention but the keybeds for these new instruments were created specifically for them including a brand new weighted mechanism and as well as the keys themselves. Casio are not rehashing any existing keybed here.

These keybeds went through three months continuous testing at the factory in Japan. Casio developed their own test gear including an automated key testing robot which strikes each key at different velocities millions of times.

At the end of testing they checked to see if any wear occurred and where it was so they could finely tune the production process for maximum quality and durability.

From my perspective as an end user and prospective customer I have to say this is one of the most beautiful feeling keybeds I have ever rested my fingers on...and trust me, I am NOT easy to please!

Re: Casio new keys teaser Namm 2019

Will there be a PX-5S successor with this new keybed?

The man needs his pitch and mod wheels and other controllers. Aftertouch wouldn't hurt either

Hard work and guts!

Apparently Casio are concentrating/aiming on/at
piano/ists. I can understand your hope for mod/pitch wheels but not to sure how necessary they are for pianocentrics like moi. Aftertouch would be interesting, but again, for piano playing? Would be more interested personally in

Keyboard feel

Velocity consistency/fluidity

Rapid repetition

Pianoteq integration (Velocity curve)

Note off send and it's reliability

3rd sensor effectiveness and

Hi Res midi reliability

Just small feature requests

Re: Casio new keys teaser Namm 2019

I'm interested in everything you state, but also having a MIDI controller that supports both piano playing and synth playing (aftertouch, pitch/mod, sliders/knobs) is kind of a dream for me.

I don't think Casio would even give you mono channel aftertouch, let alone the real deal sadly.

Would there already be a Casio piano with this new keybed? This brief video doesn't tell us anything about that.

Brand new keybed specially produced for this board so I gather.

I'll check them out as soon as they come in locally.

Bonners and Miller's have them in the UK

Re: Casio new keys teaser Namm 2019

One thing that would be truly amazing (but highly unlikely to happen) would be that Casio released a controller-only version of the Casio-Beckstein Hybrid Grand.
I few years ago, my wife and I came close to buying a GP500, as we both loved the keyboard feel and the outstanding connection to the sound that it delivered (not to mention the gorgeous cabinet). Unfortunately we thought that the sounds left a bit to be desired (lack of complexity in higher harmonics for one), compared to a top Roland or Kawai, and that the price was just too much.

At the time, I had not yet tried Pianoteq. Has anybody ever tried playing Pianoteq from a Casio-Beckstein, or even owns both? (!). If so, I would be very interested in hearing your impressions!
