Topic: Swedish folk song - We sold our homestead/Emigrantvisa, 6 variations

I hope you take time to read this, it may be of interest to understand the impro.
It’s about 10 days since my last link, so here is my first piece 2019, a humble try to make 6 variations on a swedish folk song, We sold our homestead (Emigrantvisa in swedish). Someone said that the melody sounds a bit like St. James Infirmary.
I don’t have plenty of notes up and down, I wanted that you to still can hear the melody behind. My thought is, that playing all notes of a scale all the time, isn’t always same as making good music. I tried to explore ideas, motifs, have some surprises and take you, the listener, on my ”journey”.
It is melancholy, but i think the melody is so beautiful in many ways.
Music is of great importance in most people’s life, but it is hard to know why/how music gives pleasure…anyway, I hope you like my variations.
Comments are welcome. Maybe I can learn and bring into next impro.

It's a nice melody and you have well rendered the melancholy !
I see you're also exploring the potential of Ant.Petrof!
What do the lyrics say?

Hello Gaston! At first, thanks for the two first tracks of yours for the new year. And, thanks for your kind comments!
”What do the lyrics say” - well, it start….the people started on their way, like a bird that fly away in autumn. Bird will come back in spring, but we will never see our country that we love again….(my own translation). It’s an emigrant song from 1800s. About 6 verse, strophe.
And Ant.Petrof, yes, it is for all kind of music.
