Topic: Presets! or lack thereof . . .

I have 16 presets, covering 4 purchased instruments and a few trial ones.  Is there a way of increasing this number?  I can't squeeze any more on for future assessment/purchasing purposes . . .and I don't really want to delete any, but fear I may have to.

Wouldn't be so bad if I could hide presets from the additional instruments on display just to tidy things up, but i seem unable to do that anymore.

Thanks, guys, in advance . . .

I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order

Re: Presets! or lack thereof . . .

What do you mean, you can't squeeze any more on? You should never have to delete any presets if you don't want to. I regularly try different settings and have multiple variant versions for comparison and refinement - there are so many of them that I've had to create folders to keep them under control. To the best of my knowledge, the amount of presets you can have is unlimited (if there are more than appears in the display, just scroll down).

Re: Presets! or lack thereof . . .

Sorry if I'm mistaken perterws,

(not sure of your version or OS means I'm not understanding correctly) but hope this helps:

In the preset manager window, click the folder icon (right side) next to "All Banks".

This opens your regular file manager folder where these are stored.

Create a new folder there like "My Presets".

Close, then restart Piantoeq.

You now should be able to save any of your presets you want there - or in as many other folders as you want in the same way to tidy things (from within Pianoteq now).

This way, you can leave all the factory presets where they are, so that when you click a piano, then click the factory bank - nice and clean - only factory presets.

To quickly arrange your own presets, you can 'right-click' on their name on the left side list, and hover "Move to" and "My Presets" or any other folder you create.

You might organise folders by music type, like Jazz or Classical etc. rather than just some generic "My things" routine.

Just note, at top, first select the piano, then you'll see the banks below - like "Factory" and navigating those others created by your own naming conventions.

The factory presets won't do the 'right-click' move the same way in order to protect them - but you can edit these any way you want and when satisfied, do a typical "save as" routine - saving your new tweaked out one to your folder of choice.

Quick glance, have made hundreds of my own presets and organise them all in much this way. Some folders by year a and b, went through other names like "fav" "test". I tend to move the ones I use the most to the most current folder - ATM it's "2018b". Hope that's touching on something helpful. Cheers.

Re: Presets! or lack thereof . . .

I think the 'My Presets' folder is automatically created when you make and save any of your own presets. As Qexl says, if you have multiple folders, you can either view the contents of all of them ('All Banks'), or filter them by folder. I have created folders such as Player, Recording, Experiments, Imported (i.e. downloaded from fxp corner), and several others. Create as many folders as you like, and call them whatever you like!

Much obliged, guys!  This ole laptop won't die, and I haven't used the scroll feature in years; (my chromebook is of course, much easier) and I forgot it was there . . .
But everything I want has gone on now, including a very nice free Erard which will get used muchly.

I'm surprised that the new stuff has gone on my laptop, and needs no tweaking for headphones.  Straight out of the box.  Well done, all concerned.  And the bass seems a lot better, too.
