Topic: Steinberg UR12 vs UR22?

Somewhere I read that the UR22 is supposed to have better quality sound output than the UR12. Can anybody verify this? Could I do better than the UR22 in a similar price range? I currently have a UR12 - although I appreciate the stable ASIO drivers, I'm not too happy with the sound quality. My other audio interface is an Audioengine D1, which sounds far superior to the UR12. The problem is that the D1 is designed for listening rather than playing, and if I use it with Pianoteq I'm forced to use Asio4all (bleeugh). Any thoughts would be welcome, thanks.

I don't know about UR12 but the UR22 has a excellent sound for the money, those yamaha chips give a very clear sound, lovely.

I am happy with my UR22 mkII.  I have no comparison with anything else.

Re: Steinberg UR12 vs UR22?

I bought a UR 22 mkII 2 years ago and a UPHORIA UMC 204HD (Behringer) much cheaper. The sound quality is better with UMC 204HD, the headphone amplifier is more powerful and the mic amplifiers have less noise and are more sensitive. However, for the amplifiers of microphone, I wonder, after several shots of piano sound with the 2 products if the extreme acute is not more precise with UR 22 mkII (provided to take advantage of it, to use another headphone amplifier, see a dedicated dac),
Regards,

Hmm, interesting info about the Behringer, will look into that. One of the things that bothers me about the UR12 is that I have to turn the output fairly high to get a decent level.

I have UR 22 mkII and a UMC 1820 and the UR 22 mkII has a far superior sound quality but UMC 1820 can only run at 96khz max sample rate.
