There is a virtual keyboard mode built into Pianoteq for just that. In standalone application, go to Window->Virtual keyboard.
It's where EvilDragon indicated, but the option is Play with computer keyboard and the keyboard shortcut for this is ctrl+k. I stumbled upon it by chance when I was looking for a way to freeze the preset and mic windows.
