Topic: What speakers to get for best sound in Pianoteq

Hi there,

I'm playing with a Kawai VPC1 and Pianoteq and also other sampled based libraries like Ravenscroft, Grandeur, AKs, etc.
With my Audio Technika ATH M50x everything sounds beautiful.

I have a $600-700 budget and want to invest in good speakers that kind of make the sound very similar to my headphone, so it sounds like full and like a real piano.

Would you recommend two good studio monitors alongside the subwoofer?
For instance, JBL P305 with the LSR310 or Yamaha HS5 with it's subwoofer? Or should I rather go with something else?

I have tried the HS5 from Yamaha WITHOUT the subwoofer and it just sounded very metallic and less powerful.

Thanks for your suggestions considering my budget!

For what it is worth...

I started out with HS5s.

Then I added an 8" subwoofer.

The subwoofer was not powerful enough, so i sent it back and got a KRK 10s 10" subwoofer.

Still sounded thin, so I sold the HS5s, and got HS7s.

That is a lot of money for speakers!

And, it still doesn't sound that great, to me.  Maybe I'm not placing them in the perfect spot or something.

My Audio Technica ATH M20x headphones sound better.

I am sure there are more informed people than me on this forum who can give you better info.

Here is one of several threads on the subject.  (It's been a bit of a passion of mine.):
