Topic: MUSE box (Not Receptor) on sale. MAY NOT LOAD USER VSTI's

EDIT: See my next post below. The MUSE may be moot.)

Sweetwater has the MUSE Box on sale at a deep discount--for $199 US, down from about $600 full retail. Specs say that it has 8 gigs of hard drive and 2 gigs of memory. One can load new vsti's and effects, but little is said about these. From the manual:

"The rear panel also features a CF card expansion
slot to add new virtual instruments and effects by simply popping in a CF card." The CF cards are mentioned once or twice elsewhere in the manual, but there are no details on any limitations or how they are loaded.

Obviously, 2 gigs of RAM is a little low for Pianoteq, but the MUSE Box is said to use Linux and have a low latency.

Anyone have experience with the Box, as opposed to the more capable Receptor made by the same company?

Here is the link to the ad from Sweetwater. (One can download the manual from the Peavey site.):

Re: MUSE box (Not Receptor) on sale. MAY NOT LOAD USER VSTI's

Wait a second: In this Keyboard Mag review from 2013, the writer says that the loading of user vsti's had not yet been implemented. The slot was there, and it's in the manual, but it didn't work? And probably doesn't work???

So it may be pointless to have posted the above post. Unless things have changed. Anyone know?

Don't know. I have found that Sweetwater is a bit of a hard-sell type enterprise, so getting a deal out of them would be difficult, I'd suppose.

Re: MUSE box (Not Receptor) on sale. MAY NOT LOAD USER VSTI's

Sorry for this tangled thread. Tangling it further, this page from the old Northern Sounds forum says that MUSE slipped away from its original plans to make the MuseBox a Receptor Lite, but that it may be possible to load other vsti's. However, doing so is mysterious. Except for the brief reference in the manual, there is no mention elsewhere about how to do this or what to expect. Yarks.

Sorry. I had my hopes up.
