Re: Pianoteq as Plug in ableton live 9

I am not an expert, nor am I advanced user but It's working with Reaper v5 on OS X and Pianoteq. What I had to do is look for Pianoteq VSTi effects, not VST. I don't even know the difference between VST and VSTi. "i" might stand for instruments.

Hope it helps

I use PTQ within Ableton problemless.

You have to make sure PTQ plugin is located in the same folder which Ableton searches when initializing. In Ableton, go to Settings (Preferences) and check what folder have you set as plugins container, and then copy PTQ plugin (.dll) and paste it into that folder.

for some reason I cannot find the pianoteq dll file

any reason why ?

Re: Pianoteq as Plug in ableton live 9

Because there is no Pianoteq's DLL in the directories where Ableton search it or you doesn't refresh plugins list after installing Pianoteq.

Reinstall it and remember destination directory.

Just reinstall it and pay attention to all options and paths selected, it is absolutely straightforward actually, maybe you have some custom VST folder selected in Ableton or during the Pianoteq install, just recheck it.

C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins  (64-bit)

&

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VSTPlugins  (32-bit)

are the default installation paths...

Yes, "i" is instruments as far as I know.
The main difference:
VST (effects as Inserts or Fx-tracks): Audio in -> audio with effect out
VSTi (instrument on "midi" or instrument-tracks): Midi in -> audio (from synth) out
