Topic: Piano sound vrs playback format

Hello Everyone,

Doing some experiments with piano sound vrs playback format, I've discovered that for an online playback format, like Youtube or Bandcamp, that a brighter piano sound such as D4 Pop over D4 Daily practice, gives a better sound quality on Youtube or Bandcamp.

However, for a CD, I've found that D4 Daily practice gives a better sound quality over D4 Pop, which is too bright for me on a CD.

Anyone else noticed this, or done their own experiments with piano sounds and playback format?

Cheers

Rob

Re: Piano sound vrs playback format

That's natural, since MP3 or AAC compression used by YT or BC will kill all frequencies above 16 kHz. When you record for a CD, there's no compression happening, hence all those frequencies are retained.

Hard work and guts!
