Topic: Boston GP 163

What would be the closest sound you could get from the "Boston GP-163"? I was checking out some of the utube tutorials and really liked the sound of a particular artist. He told me he was using a vintage Boston GP-163 for a lot of his pop music.

Re: Boston GP 163

Well, Boston's claim to fame is that it is "designed by Steinway".  What they fail to tell you is that it is built by Kawai, or at least it was during the time you called it "vintage".  By the way, the oldest vintage Bostons were designed by Steinway beginning in 1986.  Odds are, now, it is being manufactured even more cheaply in China.

So, using the Designed By Steinway moniker, let's go with a D4, and the string length reduced to 1.63 meters.

Cheers,

Joe

Not that I should shoot off my mouth, but my opinion of "Boston" pianos is that they are a step down from Kawai.
