Topic: Pianoteq with PowerTracks

I am using PowerTracks Pro Audio, and trying to get it to  recognize Pianoteq as a VST. When I try to add Pianoteq, PowerTracks opens a window looking for a dll file. Does anyone know what file it is looking for, and where it is located?

Thanks,

Ed

Re: Pianoteq with PowerTracks

A VST is just that: a DLL. When you install Pianoteq and select the VST plugins, you should also be able to choose the installation folders. On my system (Sonar X3), I have them installed to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Pianoteq 5.dll

and
C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Pianoteq 5 (64-bit).dll

Another common folder (might even be the default) is somewhere in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\.

I don't know PowerTracks. If it is a 64bit application, you could probably just open the "C:\Program Files" folder and search for Pianoteq*.dll. If it is 32bit (assuming your Windows is 64bit), you will need the 32bit VST, which should be somewhere in "C:\Program Files (x86)".

Re: Pianoteq with PowerTracks

Kalessin,

Thank you for the information. I found the dll files at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins

Unfortunately they are 64 bit. My PowerTracks software is 32 bit, so the 64 bit dll's are not compatible with it. I don't find any 32 bit dll's on my computer.

Do you know how I can get 32 bit dll files?

Thanks,

Ed

Re: Pianoteq with PowerTracks

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins is a 32bit folder. Furthermore, if the VST is called 'Pianoteq 5.dll', it is 32bit. The 64bit VST is called 'Pianoteq 5 (64-bit).dll'. If the non-64bit is missing, you might have to reinstall Pianoteq. You can choose during installation which DAW plugins you want installed.

Re: Pianoteq with PowerTracks

Kalessin,

Right on, thanks. I had Pianoteq 3 Play. (I should have mentioned that in my question.) As far as I could tell, there was no 32 bit dll with it. Today I upgraded to Pianoteq 5 which, as you say, includes the 32 bit dll file.

Problem solved.

Thanks again,

Ed
