Topic: Pianoteq5 slow startup
Hi,
Pianoteq5 starts considerably slower than version 4. Can that be fixed somehow?
Cheers

Erm. How long does the startup take on your machine? On my machine it's a few seconds for the standalone application, maybe 3-4, though I never measured it (and I'm not at home right now). Maybe Pianoteq 4 was a little bit quicker, but I did not notice much of a difference. I'm also not sure this can be 'fixed', since the application probably has to initialise a few things before it is ready.
Versions 4 and 5 start up in exactly the same amount of time on my Windows 8 machine.
I guess it's somehow phoning home for copy protection ?
In my case the pianoteq engine (the sound) starts immediately, bit it takes a few more seconds before the UI shows up on the screen.

Nope, Pianoteq doesn't do that.
Ok just checked. P4 needs 3 seconds, P5 needs 6 seconds for a cold start.

Pianoteq 5 starts in 2.85 sec here (handstopped).
It's 6 seconds here (i5-3337U, Win8.1) as well for the standalone version, and about 3-4 seconds for the VST, leading to a total startup time of about 10 seconds for Sonar. The PTQ4 trial takes a little more than 4 seconds in the standalone version.
But... seriously? Are we talking about a difference of 2-3 seconds in initialisation time (which can also probably be influenced by a lot of different factors) as a serious 'bug'? Wow.
Who said it's a serious bug?
Just asking myself why this is so. There has to be a reason. And maybe it is just something that happened by accident and can be fixed.
I have a Phenom II X6 @ 3.2GHz
Edit: actually they both need 6 seconds for a cold start. I was measuring P4 after P5 since I thought they use completely independent program code. But if I start P5 first, then the start of P4 is faster.
Sorry for the "false alarm"
