Topic: Audio-Interface for MacBook Pro w. PT5 required?

Hello,
I'm still relatively new to digital music and I'm about to purchase PT5 to get perfect Piano sound:).
I do have read various articles to better understand, if I really nned an audio interface to connect to my MacBookPro or not.
Here is my configuration:
- MacBook Po i7 2,8 Gz, 16GM RAM, 1TB SSD
- KEF Monitores connected via USB (see http://www.kef.com/html/en/showroom/dig...ndex.html)
- two Roland digital pianos (F-120r and RD-64), both with MIDI over USB

I just just want nice live piano sound with the lowest latency possible and possibly some recording.
I have no analog source (Mic or such) and no analog output (except probably my BOSE Quietcomfort headphone ?)

Could any Audio-Interfax really improve this setup, which would mean I need to connect the keyboards via MIDI to the interface and would go analog from the Interface to the speakers.

Any suggestion/hints are much appreciated.

Thanks
thono

Re: Audio-Interface for MacBook Pro w. PT5 required?

I assume you have the KEF X300A? If so, your speakers have internal DAC's and already receive low latency, high quality audio....and they're quite good

No, you don't need an audio interface, Apple products generally have pretty good DAC's and you wouldn't decrease latency or improve sound quality by purchasing one.
