I'm not 100% sure he's the actual Jordan Rudess. The real one wouldn't use numbers in his online handle (on his own forums his alias is just "Rudess", whereas on Youtube and Twitter he's JCRudess)... I don't mean to insult, but until identity is somehow verified, I'll stand by my reasoning.

Why is it a problem to keep Pianoteq 4 installed? It's just 40ish MB, after all...

Well, all I know is that I'm running 20 years old programs on Windows 7 without any issues. So, as far as that's concerned, I'm not concerned

Appleheads should be much more concerned.

Also, I wanted to enjoy being able to use the refinements to the "Sound Recording" microphone options on my favorite piano.  (And having now installed D4v4 and my favored FXPs, and being able to toggle back and forth between that and the new D4, I'm still preferring the prior version! And it's remarkable how different the different D4s sound -- which goes back to my original point: From a player/listener perspective, they are different instruments.  Why wouldn't we want more pianos available in the latest interface?  :-)

Many thanks again, Philippe, for listening to your (very dedicated) user community!  This makes us even more enthusiastic recommenders of Pianoteq to other players.

It's the same discussion as sampling vs. modelling. Both OS have their pros and cons. It's a matter of weighing up and taste/preference. I prefer Apple but it's true that they're discriminating against older soft- and hardware.

I think we should stop here and get back to Pianoteq!

personally, I never left it .. and, specifically, to bring us back on topic.. the request (nay, plea! ) that the v4 version of YC5 be also made available as a Legacy instrument for Pianoteq 5.

Re: Could you add the v4 D4 to v5, please?

And I've added the FXP that remains my favorite (and had me begging Philippe to add the version 4 D4 to version 5!)  to the FXP Corner for version 5:

To my ears, it sounds very different from the other presets and instruments available.

Thank you again, Philippe!  Pianoteq continues to surpass my expectations, thanks largely to your responsiveness to your customers.

You're very welcome, vic_france!  I hope folks enjoy playing it as much as I do.

To me, it has more the sound of an older Mason & Hamlin BB -- with a beefier, less-metallic mid-low range, thanks to the heavy M&H construction and tension resonator.  It's a much different feel than the new D4 which -- while I grant that is has sparkling clarity in the treble range -- sounds "buzzier" and thinner in the octave and a half below middle C.
