I'd like to ask about "Output " section , in view & modify microphones page. This night I found some artefacts or "mistakes".
D4 Pop,- When Compensation Level is off - too high jump of volume. D4 Duo,- When Compensation Level is Off - Jump up volume again little bit less, than previouse . K2 3 Mics,- When Compensation Level is off & You put all three microphones very near to "keys" ( need little bit move mics to find this point ) volume of sound jump to very distorted level , same like too much distorted amplifier sound. K2 Player Jazz,- When Compensation Level is off & You put microphones very near to "keys" level, sound volume suddenly jump to distorted level , same like too much distorted amplifier sound. Need to find this "point",- 1 microphone "on keys" level , 2 microphone very near from the top of "keys level" , suddenly sound volume jump to distorted & high volume, if I move 2 microphone more near "keys level" , sound become not distorted & volume again become normal ... Bluethner Concert Recording BA ( & AB too ) ,- when Compensation Level is off , it switches off Reverberation effect ,... why ? ( On other sounds it does not happen ... ) Something not good with assignment. Sorry for my English, but I hope you'll understand everything .

When you turn compensation off you get the "real" volume, which depends on the proximity of the microphones to the piano. So we have no control on the jump from compensation on to compensation off. We adjust the volume of the given preset with its own default values and the rest follows from the physics. And of course the sound can get very loud if you are very near to the soundboard, just like with a real microphone.
Just like the real world, turning off compensation you get the difficulties of the real life. I supose if someone start to record a lot (in turn off mode) with pianoteq and the multi microfhones, he will be some sort trained if someday he have to record a real grand piano.
Philippe, about the harp, not considering strings (just for ubnderstand) but thinking about the metal frame, is it considered to mic distance in some degree?
For example, if the mic is too close to a flat portion of the frame, or too close to a pin that hold the strings, the mic would be suposed to get the " metal strikes" of theses components.
I had no answer about "reverbs" on - off on Bluethner Concert Recording AB (BA) . I understand , that everything is possible to "explain" , but on other sounds - presets this is not happened ... . & I understand , that sound very near to sound board become loud , I talk about distortion , not about sound volume, - maybe there is some adjustments, to not go to fuzzy sound ... . I understand , that near sound board volume is very high , & before, I explained , that if I move microphone not so much near sound board, it become distorted , if I move more near it become normal , as You say, the sound closer to the Deck, the sound level is higher.., as I say, that this does not happen in PTQ engine in these presets, in what I pointed out before . If somebody not trust to me I can make video file & show these strangers . These surprises are dangerous, if somebody adjust accdentally microphones in some points near sound board , it blow up Your speakers or damage equipment or Your ears. I'm not talking about jump in levels few 3 - 6 db's , when I move for egz. microphone up & down from sound board 5-30cm , level in this situation, (which I explain before), jump about 20 db up. & again I understand , that more near sound board more loud , but on the other presets it not happened if I move much near sound board microphones , why happens with these presets . I think , that need to repaire little bit these things in 5.2 version . I think, no matter how we adjust the acoustic piano sound, we should not hear the sound, might seem like a fuzz effect turned on, or the distortion of playing through the amp, even, when level compensation button is off . This sounds not as acoustic instrument sound board distortion . I think, that there is in PTQ too much big focus on the microphones IR's. Naturally we listen piano not thru microphones ... . I think quite a lot of piano timbre colored by our speakers. Maybe is possible to have a "choice", to have a sound without different microphones IR's , or to have "neutral" - flat frequency response, or maybe << perfect - omni >> in menu , is that, what I hope ... At home I build special keyboard with omni - directional sound board speakers to produce PTQ sound more near to acoustic piano & I not need to have coloration with microphones IR's. I try to avoid the sound as, if someone had said with closed eyes ,- " Oh it sounds good , exactly like Bluethner with U87 microphones " ... I'd rejoice if somebody said , that sounds like real Bluethner. To have multi microphones choice is good for someone, who are training to record real grand or for some special audio projects. For that is good to have possibility to import own wav microphone impulses. Well in any case, it's okay for the worse as said here before You, I just warned that it is possible by combining some settings to get the unwanted effects in some acoustic instrument presets. Sorry if I said something wrong.
