Topic: PT not working after waking up from sleep

Win7 64bit, I have to restart PT after waking up from sleep mode. Any idea how to fix it ?

Re: PT not working after waking up from sleep

Did you try clicking on the exclamation point in the lower right corner, just above the keyboard?

Re: PT not working after waking up from sleep

???

Re: PT not working after waking up from sleep

Well, I assumed you meant that no sound was made after the computer came out of sleep mode, so I was suggesting that you try clicking on the exclamation point in the lower right corner of the Pianoteq interface. That is the sound system reset button. It's possible that your sound card drivers get detached from Pianoteq during sleep mode.

Or is something else happening--the interface becomes inactive?

Re: PT not working after waking up from sleep

I see, sorry.
I am checking it now and there is no problem, PT works fine after PC waking up.  But I just waited for few minutes, it looks like problem happens when PC is in sleep for longer time (few hours). Symptom is that there is no midi going to PT (PT keyboard is not responding to piano). When I close and open PT, it works fine.
Reason why I am asking is that I am planning to use Intel NUC for PT and I don't want to use any monitor at all. All I want to do is press the power button on NUC to sleep and wake up. Without monitor it will be little difficult to close and open PT.
Hope it makes sense.

Solution:

PunBB bbcode test

Sorry... I couldn't resist.

Not a problem :-)
I just want to know if it behaves the same for other members or not. Not really a big issue for me, you can leave NUC ON 24/7 as it draws about 7W when idle.

Re: PT not working after waking up from sleep

I'm currently testing a similar setup. I'm using an old laptop running Windows 8.1 with Pianoteq and an old M-Audio Keystation 61es (VPC1 on the way).

I don't use sleep mode inbetween sessions, I prefer hibernation as it pretty much uses no power at all, and you can even disconnect the power completely, plug it back in later, and be up and running in seconds. Sleep mode resumes faster, but if you're like me and play 1-2 session per day, the small added delay is quite acceptable. Hibernation of course writes the RAM cache to disk, but it works fast enough even on my 4200(!) rpm drive from 2006. I have configured the power button to hibernation mode, so all I have to do is press the power button to start playing, press it again to hibernate. No interaction with the software required, as Pianoteq responds immediately to me pressing on the keyboard. I leave the USB-powered keyboard in the ON position, it powers down as the computer shuts down (hibernates).

I'm not sure what might cause your issue, but maybe try hibernation instead? Since hibernation pretty much restarts the computer completely, it might reinitiate the controller and work better. And draw less power! If you're planning to get an Intel NUC (as am I), hibernation will work even faster since you'll probably be using a fast SSD in there. If you've got another computer, you might consider administrating the NUC with some kind of remote desktop application, so you won't need to have any monitor connected.

Hibernation options are found in power options!

Re: PT not working after waking up from sleep

My NUC should arrive on Friday, hopefully I will test it during weekend.
I will inform you about the result.

In device manager have you checked the power settings of all hardware, including USB ports to ensure that they are not set for power saving?

I assume you are not using an external USB Harddrive?   These are notorious for not reestablishing the USB connection after a sleep or hibernate.

Just curious but why would an Intel NUC be of any advantage with Pianoteq?

Please see my mini review I just posted in different topic.
BTW sleep problem is gone... Probably some Windows glitch.
