Topic: VPC1, Here You Come!

You arrive on Saturday morning and you only made me wait for about a week.
You were easy to get here in Tokyo, there is a Kawai piano studio about 30 minutes from me and they had you in stock.
But of course you know that already!
I am so looking forward to meeting you.
When you arrive I may have to stop watching the first playoff game of my beloved Red Sox and set you up.
Do you know if there is still a backlog in other countries for getting you?
See you soon!

Congratulations Mabry. And may you be as happy with the new acquisition as I am with mine

Are you still oiling your baby up at night?
And obsessively going over all the curves?

Oooo...those two questions sound kind of weird together, don't they?

I have played it for about 4 hours since getting it. My technique has improved already, my touch was way too heavy before.

Re: VPC1, Here You Come!

If I may chime in: I am using Pianoteq,  currently with my old Technics P30, a good, but a bit worn out keyboard and certainly not up the best of current keyboards (however better than the medium grade digipianos sub 1000 Euro that I have tried)...

I have looked at and tried out a few digipianos at a big music house near by.
From Kawai, I liked the MP-10 more than the other ones in terms of keyboard action. Question:

As I do not like depending on a computer (for sound source) all the time, I'd probably prefer the MP-10 over the VPC-1 for the concept, does the VPC-1 have a better key action than the MP-10? The music store did not have it in the showroom...

Thanks
Bernie

The MP-10 uses the RM3 Grand action while the VPC1 uses the RM3 Grand II. The Grand II action adds an additional sensor for each key, otherwise it is the same as the Grand. So the feel of these should be the same. See this:

This is correct.  However, the addition of the third sensor will give the RM3 Grand II action a more responsive feeling compared to the RM3 Grand.

For more information regarding the action, please refer to the VPC website

You may wish to try my latest touch curve for the VPC1. If so, please program in to the VPC Editor dowloadable free from the VPC1 website.

The curve is extremely simple;

0,0
100, 74
127, 127

Enjoy!

I wonder if you'll eventually remove the middle point altogether, and just go for 0,0 --> 127,127?
