Topic: Samplicity’s Bricasti M7 Impulse Response Library v1.1

After plugging in "best piano reverb", I found Bricasti's reverb units. These cost around £10,000 GBP, but after another equally brief google "bricasti m7 software", I found the above website which allows you to download the impulse responses for free. As far as I can make out, these impulses are taken from Bricasti's reverb units. I have heard no better sound from PianoTeq than when I programmed various of these impulses into the reverb engine in PianoTeq.

I have made a short demo video using PianoTeq's D "concert recording " but substituded theBricasti's generic "Concert Hall" reverb for PianoTeq's default.

I strongly recommend at least trying out the impulse responses

CORRECTION

£3000 is the cost of the Bricasti sterep reverb unit

and the mainframe one is £2650 ish

I loaded the Bricasti Stereo Impulse Response named "Concert Hall" as is (with no additional adjustments)

Thanks Chris for the very nice demo and the free IR link! Quite a complete set! It will take some time to fully explore it but a random check shows they sound marvelous with pianoteq...

I also noticed that drag and drop of IR files is possible, making it much easier to scan this huge collection...

Hmm. In each set in the zip file that I downloaded, there are three wave files--a left, right, and M-S file, which I take to mean Mono to stereo file. Did you use the M-S file for your demo, Chris?

The settings for the "M7 demo 2" are as follows

PianoTEQ, "Bluthner Concert Recording BA" preset -as is (unadjusted), and,
Bricasti,    "Boston A" (Boston Hall A) M-S Impulse Response

Many thanks. I for one didn't know that convolution hardware could use separate L and R recordings. Makes sense, however. (Makes me wonder if anyone has tried ambisonic recording of convolution impulses.)

Seems as though you have opened to the door to much experimentation.  Again, your recording sounds excellent and the sense of space is very authentic.

Could I ask you where do you erect Bricasti`s wav files to your computer.

How do you use Bricasti`s reverb files with Pianoteq?
Must I use some host programs with Pianoteq?

I hope Chris won't mind if I answer. You can put the impulse wave files anywhere. I store mine in a subfolder of a documents folder along with another subfolder of midi files and a subfolder with notes and pdfs about pianos and sound.

To use one of the impulse files in Pianoteq:

1. From the main interface, click on Effects.
2. Beside the word "Reverb" click on the name of the current reverb preset.
3. Near the bottom of the pop-up menu, click on Use WAV impulse, and then on Load WAV impulse.
4. Navigate to the folder that you want, double-click on the impulse, and it will load and be ready for you to adjust.

These superb files are from around 2010, and when I was a frequent member of KVR I had downloaded them. Somehow I lost them - and thanks to you I now got them back^^.
